  3. NEW HONORS FOR PRESIDENT

We are delighted to report a new recognition for Nariman Farvardin, President of Stevens Institute of Technology.

He is to be awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

This award is intended to recognize individuals who have made it their mission to share with those less fortunate, their wealth of knowledge, indomitable courage, boundless compassion, unique talents and selfless generosity. They do so while acknowledging their debt to their ethnic heritage as they uphold the ideals and spirit of America.

The letter of award states . . .

“…Dr. Farvardin, as the President of Stevens Institute of Technology, you have grown the school’s stature and increased enrollment by women and minorities, expanding educational opportunities that will have generational impacts. Your technological prowess and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as your championing of sustainability and environmental conservation are also to be praised. It is in appreciation of these and your many other contributions that 2023 Ellis Island Medal of Honor awardee Saghi Modjatabai has nominated you for our medal…

…Since the medal was founded, we have honored distinguished and diverse Americans including Presidents Ronald Reagan and Joe Biden, as well as six additional Presidents of the United States. Other well-known medalists include 16th Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Martin Dempsey, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Nobel Prize laureates, including Elie Wiesel and Malala Yousafzai; President of The World Bank Ajay Banga, CEO of Mayo Clinic Dr. Gianrico Farrugia, Rosa Parks, CEO of NextEra Energy John Ketchum, former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, RingCentral CEO Vlad Shmunis, former Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO Muhtar Kent, former Google Chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt, founder of the Carlyle Group David Rubenstein, and Lee Iacocca . . . .
